Government and Children

I'm on the fence on this one. Does the government have that right? Are the parents really being neglectful?

We give the government more and more authority over our lives and those of our children. Where does it end?

I'm against it for the primary reason that it's yet another instance of the government "knowing what's best for us". I've never seen this be a good thing in the past, nor do I see it as a good thing now.
