I was at the Franksville bonfire. It was an awesome sight. That many people standing in the cold....you generally can only get that at a Packer game.
We are motivated.
I hear these comments every day:

"I'm a conservative, a fiscal conservative," and he, like a lot of others in the room, is spooked by the fact the federal government's skim off the economy grew by a fifth in one year, even before it takes over the half of health care it doesn't yet control.

"We have a fiduciary responsibility to our kids and grandkids," he said, to stop such unsustainable bloat.
The other thing I hear...and this is most important: "I've never paid attention to politics or gotten involved before. But now I'm in and I'm not going back."
These are people who are ready to go to metaphorical war. Push has finally come to shove. That leviathan of the average American has been awakened. Throughout the last 234 years, no one has found a way to overcome it. Enemies both foreign and domestic have found their end at the hands of the average guy (or gal). We have been bullied and lied to by the Leftists for 50-or-so years. We were slow to anger, but the time has come.
Democrat or Republican, don't think for a minute that we are going away. We aren't.
There are some Right Wing bloggers out there who seem to think they are above this fray. I say to them: "You can sit at your computer and feel all self-righteous about you blogging or you can make a real difference. Join in."

You were bullied and lied to by the Bush administration for eight years, but that didn't seem to bother many of you enough to get you to speak up. That's why most of the left and the center are ignoring you now. The kind of emotionally-motivated concern you are displaying tends to burn out quickly. If you didn't mind Bush running up the deficit, passing the Medicare prescription drug benefit and cooking up phony intelligence to get us into a disastrous war in Iraq so that his buddies at Halliburton and Blackwater could profit, you have little credibility to bitch about what's going on now.
You may not be members of a single political party, but you are overwhelmingly white, and much of your anger is hostility toward those you consider less American than yourselves. Why else would the "birther" movement still have legs? Why the continued concern about illegal immigration, when the crappy economy has pretty much taken care of that problem?
Why was it OK for Bush to run up the deficit and greatly expand the government's role in healthcare, but it is the end of the world as we know it for Obama to do so?

The usual Bush-Cheney-Rove-Big-Oil-Halliburton argument doesn't wash. We can argue about the reasons for the war in Iraq and whether or not they were successful, but the rest is Democrat bullshit.
Center ignoring us? Two words: Scott Brown.
You clearly have not attended the same events I have. They have generally looked like the makeup of Wisconsin. I have personally talked to people of other races (Black, Hispanic, Asian) at these events and found they believe as I do. There is little of the "birther" movement in the TEA Party movement. However, the President helps them along by not releasing records. Birth, school... If he is going to be secretive about it, conspiracy theory will fill the gap.
Illegal immigration still needs to be addressed. It will pick up again when the economy does. It is ILLEGAL. Or do you support all things illegal? I support anyone who wants to come to this country to better their life, but it must be within the confines of the law. Further, immigration law must allow legal immigration to be easier than illegal.
It wasn't ok for Bush to run up the deficit. Why is it ok, then for Obama to QUADRUPLE it with ZERO benefit to any, other than federal and state employees?

Dad29, Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. If you believe it did, you have been watching too much Fox News.
Christmas 2009 was amazingly similar to the Richard Reid shoe-bombing attempt, which happened at a time when our nation was supposedly on high alert.
And for the record, I read Drudge more often than I read the Huffington Post.
