Voter ID Required

As I said in an earlier post, the State will not allow you to protect your own vote.

Here is the proof.

The irony is in the motto on the GAB website.

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Oh, No You Din't

President Barak Obama stepped carefully when talking for the first time about the conservative tea party movement, acknowledging it has legitimate concerns about federal reach and spending, but he contended the core of the loose anti-government network is "on the fringe."

Really? That's only because of his fringe perspective. That is, he considers himself mainstream, so the rest of us must be "fringe".

Dude: Check it out:

You Can't Even Protect Your Own Vote

The "We Are Watching" Campaign has been diligent in working very hard to protect everyone's vote here in Wisconsin. In this state, you cannot be asked to show identification at the polls, since it makes fraud much easier that way. Someone can walk into the poll or absentee/early vote using your name and when you walk in a find that you have "already voted", you are SOL.

Our friends at "We Are Watching" came up with a way around that little item. There is nothing to stop you from telling your clerk you want ID required for your vote.....until now. See, WAW came up with this nice little form to protect you and your vote. But the Doyle-stacked Government Accountability Board says "nyet". The day after this WAW program was announced, the GAB sent out a letter to county and municipal clerks saying, in effect, "nah...we really like voter fraud, so you can't accept the 'Protect Your Vote' form".

Nothing to see here folks...just move along.

I will post the letter when I get (another) copy. We are screwed.

Going Viral On Facebook

This one is all over Facebook:

I do not like this Speaker Nan, I do not like this 'YES WE CAN'. ......I do not like this kind of hope, I do not like it Nope! Nope! Nope!"

Awesome.

Snowe and Collins

When you remember this debacle called Obamacare, remember that without Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, none of this happens.

Yes, You Should

When I attended the Defending the American Dream Summit a couple weekends ago, I aksed Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner about the Constitutionality of Cap and Trade. His response to me was that he could not say; it was up to the Supreme Court to decide. When we returned, I contacted his office via the internet and stated my displeasure regarding his answer. His response to me was in a similar vein.

Now I have a good bit of respect for the Congressman. We hold similar values and agree on a broad front. I have had the opportunity to meet him, shake his hand and speak with him. But I have to admit a very strong disappointment here. Congress should never, ever propose legislation for which they are unable to cite Constitutional Authority. Otherwise, it's open season on the Constitution, hoping the whatever you want will stick.

No wonder we are at this point in our country.

Congressman Sensenbrenner (and the rest): Do your homework. Read and study the Constitution and its' intent before proposing legislation.

CUT IT OUT!!!!!

More of the same. This is horrible policy.

The Obama administration announced new ways Friday to tackle the foreclosure crisis, in part by requiring lenders to temporarily slash or eliminate monthly mortgage payments for many borrowers who are unemployed.

This will do nothing to stabilize real estate markets. If it were a good idea, lenders would be doing it without government coercion. At what point does it end? Shouldn't we be more concerned with helping business make new jobs? Oh, right. The new healthcare bill and extended jobless benefits are killing more jobs.

The program is supposed to help "responsible homeowners who have been affected by the economic crisis through no fault of their own" by expanding flexibility for mortgage servicers and originators to assist more people who are unemployed and who have been hit by falling home values". How does the government plan to test this? What is the criteria?

No, this is just another plan to buy more votes. Bread and Circuses.

Torches and Pitchforks.

Hold on to Your Wallet

H/T Dad29.

SEIU thinks they have a Right to your 401k.

This all looks really pretty:

SEIU partnered with The Economic Policy Institute (EPI), the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare and the Pensions Rights Center to launch Retirement USA, an initiative working for a new retirement system that, along with Social Security, will provide universal, secure, and adequate income for future retirees.

I will interpret: "Universal Government-supplied pensions". Further:

The Retirement USA principles will be used by SEIU and its partner organizations in this initiative as a framework for evaluating how well proposals would fulfill the goals of universal coverage, and secure and adequate income. The principals would include concepts such as:

  • Pooled assets that are professionally managed;
(Interpretation: We will take your assets and split them as we see fit)
  • Shared responsibility among employers, employees and the government;
(Interpretation: Huge taxes to force employers to provide a retirement for employees)
  • Payouts only at retirement;
(Interpretation: Because we know better how to use your money)
  • Benefits that could move with you even if you change jobs
Ummmm....they do now.

Now I know there are many who will say either, "This will never happen", or "Good. People are dying in the streets because they don't have retirement".

To the former, I say,"You thought they wouldn't take over two automakers, several financial institutions and arguably, the healthcare system". To the latter I say, "Go screw yourself."

The Left loves to put their nefarious ideas into pretty words. Don't be fooled. And keep in mind that, while industry has culpability in the losses of pension funds, so do Unions and the government.

If this sees the light of day, I will pull my 401k and IRA funds, pay the penalty and use the rest to stimulate the economy.

GE and Reagan

More evidence Jeff Immelt is the Devil.

David Frum Fired

The Beer: A Lawnmower de Saison. Crisp and refreshing. It will be ready about the time I am ready for it.

The Bicycle: I've had two rides of about 20 miles each (that's 32km for my Canadian friends) to knock off the rust. Should be warm enough to get going in earnest next week.

This is awesome! I can't believe it took this long. Reason?

This is why it is awesome.

Maybe he'll go work at HuffPo now.

They don't seem to mind when it's their side doing the violence. I also happen to think this is staged. Just like the alleged racial epithets and spitting. Zero evidence this is from opponents.

Prove it. On the other hand, I can prove routine violence on behalf of the Left over the last 50 years. And plenty of it.

This is no more than an attempt to discredit and demonize the TEA Party movement. It's what the Left does.

Jack Welch

Thanks, Jack.

By the way, did you know you turned GE over to the Devil? My uncle (who worked for you in Syracuse) is turning over in his grave.

How Can This Be?

I can only figure most Wisconsinites aren't paying attention. Feingold is an unabashed Socialist who doesn't really care what his constituents want or what the Constitution says. Are we ever going to get rid of this guy?

The Next Battle

I guarantee these folks didn't spend their own money to go to DC.

Immigration reform is the next battle. No one disagrees with the need, but we violently disagree on the path.

Here's the deal. Secure the border, then we can talk "reform". Until the border is secure, no reform effort matters.

Theft?

Theft is taking someone's property without their consent. In this country, we consider consent to be the consent of the majority of the electorate. Considering this, how is the healthcare "reform" bill anything other than theft?

Cowardice at Butler

Butler University has decided the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States is not worthy of presenting a commencement address. The President is also "controversial". Would they not invite him?

Tell them what you think.

What of the Republic

H/T Big Government

I should write this well.

This is spot-on. I see little chance of winning in the long run short of force. Even then, too many have been too complacent for too long. Too many are not paying attention and too many feed at the trough. I'm feeling a little doomed right now.

With Friends Like the US

Who needs enemies.

I linked to PowerLine because the MSM articles won't show the whole story. Recall how Israel is surrounded by enemies and how they have been forced into appeasement policies since the Carter Administration. Keep in mind how they are under near-constant threat of attack from the West Bank and Gaza.

Israel is a loyal friend and deserves better than we give NK, Iran and Venezuela.

Constitution?

We don't gotta show you no Constitution!

H/T: Doug Ross.

Apparently, there is no need to actually follow the law of the land. If you can't get it by vote or judicial fiat and if there is no regulatory agency to make a "rule" with the force of law, just claim victory anyway.

Torches and Pitchforks, friends.

"Net Neutrality"

Extraordinarily bad.

Why would we trade some dreamed-up "enslavement" to "evil" corporations for true enslavement to the government?

Common Cause defines it as, "the principle that Internet users should be able to access any web content they choose, without restrictions or limitations imposed by their Internet Service Provider."

I haven't had any problems with my ISP telling me I can't access some content. Have you? But even so, there are no Free Speech rights required of your ISP. The government is required to allow you to speak your mind. FCC control of the internet runs the risk of the return of "Fairness Doctrine".

Heartland Institute lays this out quite well.

The internet is the last bastion of truly free, unfettered speech. Government controls the Internet in places like China, Iran and Venezuela. How's that working out?

If allowed, this will not end well.

(Alleged) Global Warming Panel at DAD

I've already covered Lord Monkton at length.

(My) Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner discussed the historical context of the (alleged) AGW research and Cap & Tax. During the Q & A I asked about the Constitutionality of Cap & Tax and he claimed it was up to SCOTUS to determine that. Time was short, so I didn't go further. But shouldn't Members of Congress be able to cite something remotely resembling Constitutional Authority for legislation?

My state rep, Jim Ott talked about the abomination know as the "Green Jobs Bill" and other, equally crazy ideas from the Leftisits in Madistan. He also reminded us that it tended to be too cold to get anything to grow last summer. I recall that from my own garden. Tomatoes, especially were something like 4-6 weeks late.

Niger Innis and Paul Driesssen aslo spoke and reiterated much of what was covered. Driessen brought up the interesting tidbit that Gore recieved a "C" and a "D" in the only science courses he took in collee. Probably too busy with inventing that internet thingy and being the model for "Love Story" with Tipper. Innis also reminded the group that China and India have told the UN and the US to f--- off with regard to reducing carbon emissions.

Lord Monkton at The DAD Summit

Very funny, very nice, very British.

"Global Warming is Bull$4!7!" The crowd loved it. Other points:

"Cap and Trade is tyranny over mind and body"

While Copenhagen was a failure, it will be back at conferences already scheduled for Guam, Cancun and South Africa.

Lord Monkton also spoke at the reception Friday night and later during the breakout sessions. He made both moral and economic arguments against fighting (alleged) AGW, even if it is real.

  • Biofuels have taken food out of the supply, raising prices and resulting in starvation and food riots in the Third World. Won't see that on CNN.
  • The science is wrong, so the policy is wrong. If applying the Precautionary Principle, the science better be perfect.
  • Dealing with the (alleged) problem requires a shutdown of the economy. But by the UNs own estimates, zero carbon emissions worldwide for one year will only result in a temperature reduction of 1/20 deg F.
  • We should be adapting to any (alleged) climate change.
  • Conservatives should use the moral as well as the economic arguments to take the moral high ground.
He also made the point that "Greens are too Yellow to admit they are Red". The stoplight analogy.

He reiterated his challenge to debate the Goracle more than once.

He described dolomitic rock formed from a time when CO2 in the atmosphere was estimated at 300,000 ppm (current concentration is 380 ppm-or-so) and glaciation ruled the Earth.

I've been looking for video, but none appears to be posted yet.

More From The DAD Summit

Tim Nerenz from The Oldenburg Group spoke on Healthcare. Key point he made at the end of the speech:

The Left wants us to be like the Euros because they live longer. His reply: "I'd rather live free for 79 years than as a slave to the State for 81."

Again?

Brady's lights are on, but is anyone home?

This "Earth Hour" stuff just makes the elites feel better about the amount of energy THEY use. I'm just guessing here, but I suspect Mr. Brady has a MUCH larger carbon footprint than the average Joe.

NYT and (Alleged) AGW

Seriously. Did the NYT editorial board not get the memo? Did they not hear that the data collected by CRU at East Anglia was corrupt and useless? Did they not get the word that all other data and modeling stems from the CRU data? Did they not look at the news to tell them this is sloppy science at best and fraud at worst?

This is what happens when science is no longer a requirement for graduating high school.

Defending The American Dream

Deekawife 3.0 and I attended the Defending the American Dream Summit this weekend at Chula Vista in The Dells. Pretty well done. Friday night we were able to meet a number of the speakers and organizers, including Lord Christopher Monkton and many others. At the end of the evening we sat at a table with a man and his wife and talked for a quite some time. Saturday, as we listened to the speakers (much more on that in another post), a woman stood up to speak and I recognized her as the woman we were talking to.......Debra Waller, CEO of Jockey International. I had no clue. Deekawife 3.0 laughed at me. She'll pay.

We also had the opportunity (again) to speak with Pastor David King, who is running for Wisconsin Secretary of State. Joe The Plumber was also there, as was John Fund from The Wall Street Journal. A number of others were there to pitch their candidacies. Funny....invited Democrats didn't show.

The End Of Empire?

Can the American Experiment be saved?

I don't know.

Bounty Hunters

Hey...The Chosen One....why not try this first. Show me the money. No government program has ever rooted out waste and fraud. If you can do it, I'm all in with this healthcare $4!7. Seriously. That's how little I believe you.

And why does the healthcare (fraud) bill have to pass first? If you showed you can actually pull this off, maybe you get more than 36% (your mileage may vary) support.

Barak FAIL.

Tax on Soda and Pizza

I guess I'd say, "So what".

Taxes should be a method of obtaining the minimum revenue necessary to perform the Constitutionally allowed operations of the Federal Government. Not as behavioral punishment. The consequences of the behavior should be punishment enough.

Just sayin'.

Yikes. It's Going To Be A Rough 10 Years

Debt up to 90% of GDP. Ms. Jarrett: Inherited, my @$$.

H/T: Dr. Greg Mankiw

Using the Kids

If I'm a parent, I'm livid over this. This is using the children for political gain. And it's reprehensible. What are the chances they'll be writing a letter to the administration and the teacher's union?

More Scary?

OK...real problem? Or scare of the week?

Let's see....."peak oil", population bomb, genetic engineering, nukes, (alleged) AGW, bird flu, swine flu. None of this has materialized as the disaster it was claimed to be.

This one?

At What Point Do They Own It?

Now it's Valerie Jarrett. At what point does this administration shut up about "inhereting this mess" and get on with REALLY doing something about it instead of making it worse?

And what of the media and especially Newsweek? Any chance they can ask some hard questions of this administration? Something like, "This administration has been in the White House for 14 months. At what point do you quit blaming the previous administration?" Or, "This administration has quadrupled the deficit in one year. The national debt is nearing 12% of GDP - the highest percentage since 1960. Why are you pushing a $10 trillion socialized healthcare bill?"

You know...the stuff they would ask President Bush.

Government and (Alleged) AGW

The Beer: The Punk IPA came out nicely. It could stand a little more aging time, but it is certainly drinkable.

The Bicycle: The Madone is clean. I just need to put it back together. Maybe a short ride tomorrow.

The VRWC: Timothy Wirth makes a really poor argument in the San Francisco Chronicle.

From our out-of-control health care system to lax banking regulation, vested financial interests are having a field day distorting the facts in service of another year's or decade's profits. Climate change is the latest issue to take a beating. It's the standard Leftist meme: "Vested Interests", evil capitalists. Then a call for "Government" to level the playing field. I call BS. He calls for the government to "stand up for the scientific method". I have to wondeer if Wirth knows the "Scientific Method" at all. In the Scientific Method, one develops a theory. Then one gathers data. Then one tries to disprove the theory. No theory can be tested for all cases, so it must be continually tested until it becomes observable fact. Observable fact: The Earth is round. Theory: All planets are round. The difference? Until we can see all planets in the universe, we can't know for certain they are all round. There is only one Earth. It is observably round (close enough). (Alleged) AGW is not observable within the range of all variables, and I would argue cannot be proven (at least not with current technology).

Further, Wirth's rhetoric and credentials (The United Nations Foundation) kill his credibility.

Look, I'm not the smartest guy in the room (ok, maybe I am if Wirth and I are in the same room), but I know when something doesn't smell right. (Alleged) AGW has always smelled particularly bad. And the religious fervor with which its' adherents attack those who disagree is telling. The government need not defend good science and should not defend bad.

Here Comes Amnesty

This is about getting reliable Democrat voters. Expect an amnesty bill in Congress well before the November election. We know how nefarious Schumer is. Graham is a "squish".

Immigrants and their advocates — promised by then-candidate Obama that he would tackle the issue in his first year as president — have been growing frustrated by the inaction.

They left out the word "illegal". It's the people who have entered the country illegally who want this bill to happen. It will do nothing for the people who wait an inordinate time to come here legally. Want evidence?

Several community groups planned to vent some of that frustration in a Monday in Washington. The groups also are trying to organize tens of thousands of people from around the country for a March 21 demonstration in Washington.

This will be another, "No Illegals, No Burritos" march. Plan on it. With HUGE coverage by the press. Compare and contrast with the April 15 rallies.

Healthcare and Jobs

Is it possible Americans are this stupid?

I really don't like to broad-brush the populace, but this column had me apoplectic. In what Universe does a government that is trillions of dollars in debt and is unable to fund existing social programs have the ability to CREATE JOBS BY CREATING ANOTHER HANDOUT!?!?!!?!?!?!?

Somebody, anybody explain the logic to me?
